Well, as far as my history knowledge goes, the term "Palestine" for the region was introduced by the Romans. I thought, that was more well known? - Here, quoting from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestine_(region)):
Ah, right. The article also states that the term has been used by the greek Herodotus in the 5th century BCE. So it was probably known and used some time before the Roman conquest of the area, I suppose?
So I guess, the statement from your parents seems mostly right. Maybe just framed bad. Unclear why this is a Zionist take, if it's just the documented history.
Judea was also tiny, it didn’t come even close to encompassing Palestine. Palestine was Palestine or some similar variation before the brief blip that was the Kingdom of Judea and after. And be wary, there’s a ton of Zionist rewrites of history to justify their own claims. They’re also constantly digging stuff up and claiming it’s “Jewish relics” or “biblical relics” even when it had zero to do with Judaism or the history of Judaism in the region. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Judaism doesn’t have roots and history in the region, I’m just saying be wary of the grasping at straws to justify bible stuff (remember many, many Zionists are Christian Zealots and obsessed with Old Testament (ie Jewish) stuff) and they’re constantly over embellishing to justify their ethos. The region is more notable for its nomadic trading and shepherd culture than for its singular “Jewish” identity. Many tribes were Jewish. Many were not. And during some periods those Jewish tribesman were more dominate than during others. The Levant has always been a multiethnic crossroads, not a one shoe fits all sort of place. just to add, even if an area was historically part of the kingdom you claim. it means ziltch.
Does Italy has a claim over Spain because the Romans? does Norway get to claim Greenland?
if Catalunya becomes independent, does it get Aragon and Italy?
it's a nonsensical concept. like saying you're the legal owner of every apartment you've ever rented
Right, I am totally aware of that historical bias. Thanks for the reminder anyway!
And I agree with most of your description. - Just making it clear: I am especially not basing my point of view on "the Bible stuff", but the broader historical information. So, the basic knowledge which is generally accepted by historians holds for me. Hence the reference on Wikipedia. (It's science. You trust the facts. And the cross-checked information. Until proven otherwise by new discovery.) About the details we can (and have to) discuss.
PS: Your image link is not working.
People been living there way before israelites existed as a group so weird for zionists to think they have eternal right to the land based on ancestry
