sometimes, it feels like the unions we have are unions in name only and especially so when they agree to provisions like this.
Yep, reminds me of a Jacobin article I read recently: America’s Brutal Capitalist Class Tamed Its Labor Movement
like it is w the democrats; it makes you wonder if there's any significantly large organizational opposition to the ruling class that isn't captured.
Air Canada flight attendants were ordered back to work by our federal government (and into labour arbitration). They said they were striking anyway. All of a sudden the employer was able to negotiate in good faith, and they got a tentative agreement. Corporations need to know that strike threats are serious.
