Venture Bros is probably the best I've seen, but I also enjoyed

  • Primal
  • The Tick
  • Amazing Screw-On Head (only the pilot ever got made, but if you like it check out Creature Commandos)
  • Megas XLR

Also if you have kids and want to watch stuff with them that isn't brain rot, try Samurai Jack, Clone Wars (Tartakovsky's original), and Reboot.

Megas: XLR

Gundam for boyz

I still rewatch episodes of Monkey Dust. If you like pitch black British humor, it's for you.

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

God I love Monkey Dust. Can't believe it ended 20 years ago now.

"I never done it, I only said I done it so they'd take me bellend oot'a the Magimix."

[–] 1hitsong@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 days ago

I use the Russian roulette party game as a gauge to see how people will react to the show. If they find it funny, they're likely to enjoy the rest. If they don't, then they'll REALLY hate where some of the other scenes go.

Ugly Americans.

[–] EchoCranium@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 days ago

Danger Mouse, international spy and crime fighting white rodent with an eye patch. Old British cartoon from the early 80's.

[–] kwedd@feddit.nl 4 points 6 days ago

Code Monkeys

[–] MyFriendGodzilla@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Fritz the cat! Also non animated but muppet-like Meet the Feebles.

[–] OceanSoap@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law.

If that’s on the list add The Maxx

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Is this obscure? I thought it well known?

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

It's generational. Definitely more obscure than Drawn Together, The Oblongs, or Billy and Mandy

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Woah, I've not seen any of those! Yes I am old. I liked the animated Aeon Flux a lot, and there was a pretty bad live adaptation, so I thought it was famous.

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 2 points 6 days ago

The Life & Times of Tim

[–] N00b22@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 days ago

Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon and 3-South

[–] EtnaAtsume@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

One other person mentioned it but I'll put Tom Goes to the Mayor out there too.

I feel like if you didn't grow up in the rust belt or some other dead part of the USA without anything but public access TV, a lot of the humor is lost on you.

But for those few who did....it was nice to feel seen.

TGTTM is the beginning of a vast, graceful arc that leads eventually, inevitably, to Check It Out With Scott Clam.

Xavier: Renegade Angel, dunno if it counts because it's computer animation but some good TV-MA psychedelic social satire

I don't see Aeon Flux mentioned yet. The Maxx is very good too. Duckman I remember being hilarious, but I dunno if starring Jason Alexander counts as a deep cut.

All of the adult swim shows like ATHF, Brak Show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Squidbillies, Home Movies, Metalocalypse, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Sealab 2021, and probably a few others I can't remember. Also, not animated but I would put Sifl & Olly in the mix because it fucking rocks.

Drawn Together was hilarious. It ended because sponsors were too uncomfortable advertising alongside it. It could never get made today.

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Did you ever see the movie? It's basically the creators bitching because they were shunned for the content while South Park was lauded because it came with a heavy-handed moral.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 6 days ago

I had no idea. I'm gonna watch that tonight. Thanks!

Fritz the Cat. Not to be confused with Felix the Cat. Fritz the Cat was, essentially, an adults only version of Felix. And by adult only I mean pornographic.

I'm also not seeing anyone mention Mission Hill so throw that onto the pile. It's hella good.

Also Clone High.

12 oz. Mouse. Twelve is also the number of fans the show has.

Edit: shoutout to !12ozmouse@adultswim.fan where I am the only person who posts.

Okay I haven't heard of a lot here.

I don't know if it's the most obscure or deep cut but my favorite vote goes to Moral Orel. It gets dark in a way that doesn't look like it.

Billy and Mandy and Duck Dodgers imo don't belong to this list

Surprised you didn't add the MTV one such as AEon Flux, The Head, The Maxx. Aeon in particular is a favorite of mine, watching it is very wtf. I think it should belong to this list.
