They don't shove it in your face though, they just offer a possibility of integrating AI through external services.

There are better text editors. Swearing by that one is kind of a joke.
I use Zed Editor on a daily basis even though they push AI in it (it's purely opt-in, thankfully)

What if the open source software is forcing people to see AI?
That's the neat thing about open source: you can change it!
It's like the difference between renting and owning. When you rent, you can't really do much. If you own, if you don't like the wall color, paint it! Or tear it down, or DON'T replace the carpets! Or take a hammer and put holes in the wall to see what's inside.
And, because it's digital, you can make a million copies or delete them! It's like a holodeck! You do what you want. It serves you!
