History won't tell the beginning of the Trump regime at that indeterminate point. It began when he rode down that piss yellow escalator.

" In addition, the Secretary of Defense may employ any other members of the regular Armed Forces as necessary to augment and support the protection of Federal functions and property in any number determined appropriate in his discretion." 100% illegal according to Posse Comitatus Act.
Deploying Marines, Space Force, Navy Army or Airforce in the US against the US is prohibited
Minor nitpick: national guard soldiers under title 32 is totally fine (the George Floyd protests), however that requires the state governor's approval. Trump bypassed that by putting them on title 10 orders which is active duty. Those are typically only for training or overseas deployment, and not for actual deployment within the US (though I think the south border mission may be an exception).
So, he's already violating the law, but also putting provisions to use active duty soldiers as well which is double against the law.
Is there a good argument for why any society not in collapse should submit to any "higher" authority?

Sounds like it's going to be a violent summer. As soon as the first protestor gets injured or killed, this will start to spin out of control.
Protesters already have been getting injured to the point of hospitalizations.
L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn said:
"The ICE raids across Los Angeles today are chilling. They aren't targeting violent criminals - they are sweeping up hardworking people in our communities just trying to provide for their families. These agents are armed to the teeth and it is clear their goal is to make people afraid and it's working. I understand that during this morning's raids, SEIU California President David Huerta was injured by federal agents and wrongfully detained. I am calling for his immediate release. This is a democracy. People have a right to peacefully protest, to observe law enforcement activity, and to speak out against injustice."
Service Employees International Union California President David Huerta was injured and detained while documenting an immigration enforcement raid in downtown Los Angeles on Friday.
Huerta, 58, was treated at a hospital and then transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown L.A.
“What happened to me is not about me; This is about something much bigger,” he said in a statement from the hospital. “This is about how we as a community stand together and resist the injustice that’s happening. Hard-working people, and members of our family and our community, are being treated like criminals. We all collectively have to object to this madness because this is not justice.”

A senior DHS spokesperson sent ABC7 a statement Friday, but did not directly address the investigations at both locations.
The statement said in part, "ICE is now following the law and placing these illegal aliens in expedited removal, as they always should have been."
If they have a valid credible fear claim, they will continue in immigration proceedings, but if no valid claim is found, aliens will be subject to a swift deportation."
The SEIU President David Huerta is literally the Union leader for the restaurants targeted by these raids.
"Expedited removal" means no due process. No judge. No justice. ICE rolled in with military vehicles, ~~arrested~~ kidnapped over a hundred people in a single day, and will send them all out of the country as fast as they can without any chance to defend themselves or prove they belong here.
They knew what would happen when they raided a city and rounded up people by the truckload. They knew it would spark protests, and in less than two days of unrest and zero dead anyone they're already sending in thousands of National Guard and talking about deploying the fucking Marines on US soil.
They wanted this violence, and they're making it happen. This won't just be in San Diego. This won't just be protests. There will be blood. Don't let them win.
Time to make that a reality.
Exactly. No federal aid money? Fine, we won't pay federal taxes. Going to claim we're rebelling? Well, alright then.
Noem tried to peddle habeas corpus, a legal principle with centuries of legal tradition, as Trump's right to do whatever he wants. Of course they would sell what's going on in LA as whatever fits their agenda.
Hey national guard members, get the fuck out of the way or get steamrolled. You’re not heroes.
I'm just waiting for the west coast to break off and do it's own thing
Well that’s scary holy shit this is definitely a step up on the fascism ladder
You know if you shatter a spark plug, those little bits will 100% break a car window when thrown?
I wonder now what my ex-housemate thinks of Trump. He is one of those centrist types who thinks excessive power from one side needs to be counteracted by the other, but mostly pay lip service to the right. He dislikes the right in his country which ruled for 13 years and voted centre left, but supports Trump and right wing parties in Europe because of too much immigration in the West. But at the same time, he supports Palestine. My ex-housemate means well for the most part, but he is one of those men who are vulnerable to disinformation.
