-Spoilers Ahead-
Finally got a chance to go see this and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. It had flaws that I'd nitpick here and there, but it was still very enjoyable. Honestly, a big part of that for me is finally having a Superman again that clearly cares about helping people and isn't an angsty, violent, walking disaster. I had reservations as GotG is not my cup of tea, but Gunn really nailed it here. This Sups cares about protecting everyone and everything he can, and I love it.
Additional favorite parts:
- Every scene with Krypto had me giggling and awwing. That pup is an adorable menace.
- Mr. Terrific was an unexpected standout for me, as he seemed a bit bland from his first few scenes. Loved him by the end, though.
- The contrast between Sups' goody-two-shoes behavior and Gunn's typical immature but charming gags was always funny. The Green Lantern in particular (hell yeah Fillion) was great with this (eg flipping tanks over with giant green middle fingers).
One thing I'd love if someone could clarify (if it has any backstory) - wtf was up with Jimmy being apparently irresistible to every woman he comes across? Like, he's not bad looking or anything, but it was kind of freaky how seemingly every woman he was near seemed instantly obsessed with him. Did he have a bad encounter with a genie? Secret super power? I'm so confused XD
