Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Finally. I'm sick of all the politicians acting like you can negotiate with someone who changes their opinion every other day.

They should freeze this orange pedophile out of negotiations.

Brazil is a whale, they can play the game

Canada is not in such position so they got to play coy.

Size matters

It's more that Canada's geographical proximity to the USA has it more dependent on it. Brazil and other countries have other closer neighbours that would be more convenient to cooperate with than the USA.

  • Summary
  • 50% US tariff on Brazilian goods taking effect on Wednesday
  • Lula tells Reuters no reciprocal tariffs pending from Brazil
  • Calls with BRICS leaders may lead to joint action on US tariffs
  • Bolsonaro should face new trial for courting tariffs, Lula says
  • Lula opens door to Trump meeting at U.N. General Assembly

Why don't BRICS, especially China and EU just team up and form their own trade group away from the USA?

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

It's informally happening like that anyway when they all have to adapt to less trade with US.

The EU is being phenomenally stupid on China. It's going to be trying to go it alone.

China and EU are both export-oriented economies. The US is the only major import-oriented one.

And

Some of the largest economies in the EU (France, Spain, Portugal) are all consumption service economies, they could easily take Chinese shit en-masse.

It's not really even that. The US is built on the idea of theft so most of their resources are stolen from other countries oil for example and the African Americans who build most of the country and who are still treated like slaves even in today! Russia and usa if become one country no one us or russian citizens would see any differences their societies work exactly the same different in name only.

I think the rest of the world is coming to that conclusion as well. How can you negotiate with a random number generator that carries no meaning and is not reliable?
