Podium for Hadjar!

Great race with a lot of drama with 3 DNF from Hamilton, Leclerc and Norris. Strong race and strategy by Piastri, Verstappen and Hadjar. Mercedes did not perform. Ferrari, where to start, Leclerc showed determination but bad team strategy with the pit stop which resulted in the accident. Hamilton seems better mentaly and i hope it get better in Monza. Alonso is still GOAT and Aston martin is quite a surprise. Albon, Bearman in the points. Conclusion Crash your car in practice and qualification and finish 8 like Stroll....and Piastri is really taking a strong option for the championship win.

And Hadjar also getting the Driver of the day with 38% of the votes.

Been a while since we had a clusterfuck race like this, reminds me of the old times.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago

Yeah very entertaining

Someone needs to tell Race Direction that the battles are supposed to go on the big screen, not that tiny thingy at the side

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

While we're at it, could we also ask them nicely to stop putting shit all over the screen? Racing line graphics out the back of the cars, big floating nametags that obscure the action, "10 LAPS TO GO" graphics lol

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How the hell am I supposed to do a writeup of all this in the post race thread πŸ˜…

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Without tires that is how you are supposed to do it

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

So, Leclerc is out. But because the FIA decided that they wanted to take lunch instead of doing their job and deciding on the penalty for Leclerc/Russell, they're now in a position where if they DO give Leclerc a penalty for the Russell incident (which, to be fair... Maybe), he'll carry that into the next race.

The FIA are genuinely maybe the worst thing about this whole sport. They make it so hard to watch and enjoy.

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

10s penalty for Sainz wow. I thought it was just a racing incident.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 8 points 1 month ago

Looked like a classic racing incident to me, 10s feels bizarre.

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That shot of Leclerc sitting on the hill while the McLarens drive by 😭

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Leclerc chose violence with that VSC restart, wow. Incredible.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

New strategy. We don't need tires where we are going

and Ferrari is done!!! Leclerc is out

[–] Crazazy@feddit.nl 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Leclerc's radio message indicates that he has now hit the 4th stage of grief

I mean, that's on Kimi right? Where was Leclerc supposed to go?

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Love to see some actual racing, well done Leclerc for providing entertainment. Also I have four billion pounds for anybody who can explain to me why Sainz deserves a ten second penalty for Lawson opening up his steering πŸ˜‚

[–] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Noooooooooooooooooo not like this. Not like this for Norris.

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 5 points 1 month ago

Great battle between Russel and Leclerc, finally some action. That was quite the move

[–] ChanchoManco@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Can we vote Leclerc as best overtake?

Investigating after the race, as usual with the FIA fancying taking the afternoon off I guess. Fucking useless, impossible to trust the results when the race finishes any more. Pointless to actually watch at this point πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Stroll's driving over debris early leading to him accidentally undercutting the whole field is the kind of 500 IQ play that makes him the goat

I hope that Hadjar can keep the third place, but this also opens P4 for Albon against Russell with a damaged car.

Leclerc is hungry. Good move on Russell

There have been some emotional moments this race. Hadjar has a chance to give this a happy ending.

[–] hsr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Italian civil war

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Now it is a sprint race

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Unexpected out for Norris!!! Wonder what that was. Keeping fingers crossed for a Hadjar podium now 🀞

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Ah, oil leak. God that's rough, reliability is so good nowadays

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

An agent of chaos move by Antonelli, I respect trying the Alonso line in 3 but that was optimistic.

Wow thought Verstappen was gonna lose it on lap 1. Well done.

If it rains, his soft tire gamble will pay off big time.

Alonso pitted and now has fastest lap.

Should have fun, even if it doesn't work. Not sure what his tire delta is.

Kudos to Stroll on 9th position after crashing in practise and qualif.
