I had to come to the comments to find out what she meant. CNC fabrication was the only thing I could think of.

Just wanted to say that's an amazing emoticon.

They are built into the Voyager app! (☝︎ ՞ਊ ՞)☝︎

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 198 points 6 days ago (9 children)

Is there any other meaning..?

[–] josephc@lemmy.ml 244 points 6 days ago (21 children)

I had to noodle on this one for a while and ask around. I think, and this is only a guess, that this might be "consensual non-consent", which is a role play of sexual assault.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 204 points 6 days ago (9 children)

Wait so not command and conquer?

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 65 points 6 days ago (7 children)

Red Alert was such great times.

It's not necessarily role play of assault, though it can be that. It can also mean that blanket consent has been given ahead of time, and so the subject is unaware of what may happen to them or when, and by the nature of it can't give specific consent for any particular action. It can have to do with pushing/exploring boundaries, a power dynamic kink, or just enjoying the element of surprise, among others.

If you're doing it right, consent can be withdrawn at any time via a pre-established non-verbal signal and/or safeword, and any bondage equipment will have safety releases.

e: In case it's unclear, I just mean that the definition is more broad than that. I don't think there's anything wrong with role-playing assault.

I literally do not understand the meme. Is the first meaning of CNC something sexual?

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 44 points 5 days ago (20 children)

Consensual non consent.

Also known, or formerly known as rape play.

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And let me guess, it's not called that anymore because 1. it's not really rape 2. it got mixed up too often and then people got soft on it?

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not sure if the details around it. Not my cup o tea

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Meh, as kinks go thats pretty common

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, but I don't know if the interest is then as common to be interested in it's history to such an extend that you know stuff like that.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sorry I'm not understanding what you mean... (I'm pretty sick right now so it could just be me being dumb)

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, it's been going around here as well.

I meant that while I'm sure a lot of people have the kink, not many may be interested in it's history, such that they are capable of talking about the reasons why it is not called rapeplay anymore.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I can see how that might be the case. Thanks for helping me out

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Crazy you feel obliged to say thank you for such a small act. Makes me think about our anonymous individual-based society.

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 0 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

...I didn't feel obligated.

I felt thankful and thought it would be nice to let you know that.

Edit: also you seemed to show some empathy and took the time to comment that illness is also plaguing your area, so it seemed like you were an emphatic person to some degree. Thought you might be receptive and appreciate knowing.

Was a little thing, just a few words, and ,selfishly, if a few words hello you have a better day, even for just a literal moment, that makes me feel good so it really isn't a bother to state my honest feelings.

Not a big deal but im happy to have an honest interaction even if it is to someone I'll likely never see or come across again.

Cheers

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 hours ago

Hey man, no hard feelings to you. It was a nice gesture. Though I did indeed not think about the illness part. Much love sent your way. I see nothing you did wrong in particular.

I'm sorry, I'll turn the computer off. I didn't realize it was still running.

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's actually horrific. Pleasure to death by rounding error was not on my bingo card.

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Yeah, sorry. I thought the cnc machine had better failsafes, but I had to code some of it in c# so...

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I hate c# for some reason, but I can't remember why. Kind regards, Java dev.

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think its the proprietary ms one that only runs 100% right¹ on windows.

¹or is supposed to-windows is windows and wine exists.

[–] Devjavu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah, feels about right. I actually did develop in c# once and I hated that I was bound to the shitty microsoft tools. They were open source and baack then I didn't really know linux, but I hated them. Just clunky.

Anyone asking me for CNC, will be pleasantly surprised when a truck arrives with an 5-axis Fanuc.
