Well tbf, even though it's strictly banned in China there are still some cases of it happening in rural areas.

Chinese Rednote users actually seem to have a relatively utopian view of the US. I'm seeing alot of posts asking if it's true that most Americans can afford to own a house and being corrected by americans in the comments; stuff like that.

Also they really like Luigi Mangione lol, even before americans came into the app.

This is the first time americans are talking directly to chinese people en masse like this, no? The state department must be scrambling to get things in order. I don't think they expected the ban to backfire this bad lol

Wonder how long it'll last before it's closed off.

Just move to a better instance lol, wasn't that the entire point of coming here? Lemmy.zip and Lemm.ee have been great.

I'd say having a senile old man as the head of a country is much more 'outrageous'

Spoken like a true shitlib

Lemm.ee: Where you can be a fascist but still complain about other instances

Those editors should probably check their phones for signs of tampering...

I say that only half-jokingly

People on twitter are saying he's actually a far-right nationalist hypocrite who owns properties in the US. Makes sense to ban him then ig; just one of those fake internet celebrities that they occasionally ban probably.

Fear for his life, probably. He seems to be popular enough to give those parties a momentum that would make him a target of both the capitalist parties.

Black Panther party members — including its leader — were killed by the FBI. A genuine threat to capitalist rule will naturally have to face these threats.

it's funny that you can get that when you run a campaing that focuses on material issues for the most part and don't try to court a non existent center/center right voting bloc that doesn't exist

In general the right left binary is not very accurate for capturing how most average people think of politics. People may be socially conservative on one issue and progressive on another. They might favor left wing economic policies but may not conceptualize it as left wing.

Mexico i would say has a more culturally conservative tradition than the USA does, yet Morena was able to successfully pass all sorts of socially progressive legislation, because they were lowkey about it while rhetorically emphasizing the bread and butter economic issues most

  • Sanctions and tariffs implemented as part of a US-led trade war have put increased pressure on China’s manufacturing industry

  • Despite that, a Post investigation can reveal a large proportion of the ‘Made in China 2025’ 10-year targets have been achieved

In 2015, China set out on an ambitious 10-year plan – dubbed “Made in China 2025” – to achieve self-reliance, innovation and strength in the manufacturing industry within 10 years.

Back then, China stood at the lower end of the global industrial value chain, producing mostly cheap and technically backward products.

In 2018, then-US president Donald Trump tried to upset China’s plan by initiating a trade war. The US government sanctioned Chinese hi-tech enterprises, put up high tariffs and conducted a nationwide investigation of scientists collaborating with China. After Joe Biden took over as US leader in 2021, he went a step further by imposing measures such as a chip ban on China.

But based on official books published a decade ago and other authoritative sources, the Post has compiled more than 260 goals previously proposed under the plan. These goals span 10 key areas, many involving highly specialised and complex technologies.

And the analysis confirms that more than 86 per cent of these goals have been achieved, with some others likely to be completed later this year or next. Meanwhile some of the targets, such as electric vehicles (EV) and renewable energy production, have been well surpassed.

Over the last five months, we've seen an unprecedented escalation in violence in Gaza. Most people I know feel like they're going crazy. We're all seeing the same footage, but no matter how angry we all get and how much we try to change public opinion, nothing seems to come of it. So...what can we do? Has evil won?

Why indeed JT, why indeed
