I'm looking to make some gold. Outside making alt accounts to milk the Astal Acclaim, what are some other ways to make a decent chunk of gold?

Silly thought that stuck with me today.

Is there any explanation for achievments in universe? Like Commander has a little notebook where he counts numbers of killed krait or centaurs? 🙃

I understand that they are mostly for gameplay purposes, but in my imagination he stops at that bar in Divinity Reach once in a while and shows everyone his progress. On the other hand most of the side quests are done as collections/achievments so there must be some way for him to track these things.

Recent events have stirred up questions, within what is left of the Guild Wars 2 community, about the fate and whereabouts of Menzies. Should you find yourself asking them, worry not, Menzies was reincarnated into Rytlock Brimstone. He's been a loyal companion, I guess, for quite a while. But things are changing. When he was reincarnated, Menzies forgot much of himself. It may be possible that his new name, Rytlock Brimstone, is a containment spell holding his amnesia in place. It could also be possible that the name "Menzies" is neither spoken on wider Tyria, nor around Rytlock, because it will shatter the holding spell and cause him to start remembering who he really is. And then we're @#$%^. Like I wrote though: Things are changing. Menzies is regarded by some as evil. His time around us, as Rytlock, makes that hard to believe. Yet we forget, at our peril, the legacy of Ryland's loss. The passage of time has not healed the wound dealt to Rytlock's heart by the loss of his cub. Who does he blame for Ryland's death? Rytlock initially appealed to the PC for help to save Ryland. The PC put Rytlock's concerns for his offspring aside, opting for another course of action. You could say that the PC is to blame for Ryland's passing. I dare write that Rytlock entertains that notion on occasions too. The resentment over the loss of Ryland tugs at Menzies's heart. This life, this mortal life, that he donned allowed him to find happiness through his cub. When the Lord of Destruction recovers his memory and his hatred of life, the PC will become a object of his bottomless fury. Rytlock-come-Menzies is destined to clash with us in the not too distant future. He may recover Magdaer; he may simply wield the memory of Ryland. All the while, in our ignorance, we grope around in the dark trying to make sense out of the senseless. That is all.

Hi!

I've enjoyed playing Guild Wars 2 on Steam Deck a lot over the past few years.

About two years ago, I've created a controller layout for the game, with around 84.000 hours of playtime across Steam's player base, alongside a video guide on how to get it all running.

Although both the guide and the controller layout are still usable, the keybindings are outdated by now and setting up the game can be a bit finicky.

So I've spent the last few weeks creating an updated controller layout, a dedicated website with information on playing the game on Deck, as well as a small application, which should make setting up the game easier:

https://gw2ondeck.org/

The application is, of course, completely free and open source (GPLv3) and does the following things:

  • Downloading and installing the most recent version of my controller layout
  • Providing importable keybindings for that layout
  • Setting optimized graphics settings
  • Improving Steam's radial menus by importing game related icons instead of button glyphs
  • Updating everything of the above, when new features are available

There are video guides available for using the app and the controller layout, as well as an FAQ section, which I hope to expand whenever necessary.

Although I'm very certain that the app can't really break anything, I can only do so much testing with one Steam Deck and one Guild Wars 2 account. So I'd love to have some feedback on the whole thing. Does it work for everyone? Is it even useful? Did I overlook something important? I'd be very grateful for every piece of feedback I could get, be it positive or negative! Thanks in advance!

The updated controller layout is, of course, also available via Steam's Community Layouts as Nyankas v2, if you don't want to use GW2OnDeck, although it's missing the customized icons, as these can't be uploaded there.

TL;DR: Is the stuff on https://gw2ondeck.org/ Quality Armor or Foo?

I need to harvest a LOT of them. I'm running around in Lake Doric for them.

For those that don't know: Mount Balrior Raid Expert is an achievement of the new W8 raid. To get that achievement you have to obtain 100 points for each of the bosses of the wing. You obtain one point for each person in your squad for whom it was the first kill time ever that they kill that boss.

  1. It is a pyramid scheme. By design, only about 1/11 players can get it (at best).
  2. It encourages people that don't wanna train to do trainings. They are irritated more easily and are way less patient towards new players. Because they don't wanna train new people, they only want to get the achievement.
  3. It will only be harder as time goes on to get this achievement, further increasing the toxicity of it, as people rush to get it.
  4. It makes non-training runs worse. If there is an underperformer, you can't kick him because people will get angry that they wont get points for the achievement and they will leave. If you don't kick him, you'll both waste time on easily preventable wipes and people will also leave because of it.

Training runs should be done by people that actually want to train. If you want to encourage trainings, you should reward re-clearing wings, doesn't matter if it's a training run or not.

Seems that the most recent Steam upgrade has caused some Linux user's game to lag after ~30 minutes. Restarting fixes the issue

However, there are other fixes that may eliminate the need to restart like adding to the launch arguments of the game:

Colors

Colors can be applied using the <c> tag. You can either use a predefined color or define one yourself by using a 6 character HEX color code.

User defined colors:

  • <c=#ff0000>Red</c>
  • <c=#ffa500>Orange</c>
  • <c=#fafe36>Yellow</c>
  • <c=#79c314>Green</c>
  • <c=#487de7>Blue</c>
  • <c=#4b369d>Indigo</c>
  • <c=#70369d>Violet</c>

Predefined colors:

  • <c=@Task>Task</c>
  • <c=@AbilityType>Ability Type</c>
  • <c=@Flavor>Flavor</c>
  • <c=@Reminder>Reminder</c>
  • <c=@Warning>Warning</c>

Underline

Text can be underlined by using the <a> tag which is typically reserved for links. By default it will have a light blue color but can be changed by adding the color attribute.

  • <a>Blue underlined text</a>
  • <a color=#ffffff>White underlined text</a>
  • <a color=@Warning>Red (default warning color) underlined text</a>
  • <a hoverColor=#ff0000>Blue underlined text, will change to red when you mouse over it</a>

Line breaks

The <brx> tag allows you to add a one and a half line break and are best suited for headers and paragraphs. The new line should be written directly after the tag, applying a regular line break between the tag and the new line will remove the tag.

  • Header line<brx>Second line

Special characters

There are two special characters that can be inserted to your text using the <ins> tag.

  • <ins=ellipsis>
  • <ins=emdash>

Did it twice now. It sucks. Just my opinion. Most times I couldn’t even figure out where to go.

Catalyst will be able to gain energy while a jade sphere is deployed. This totally changes the gameplay of the specialization :o.
