He's probably not allowed to take part in any technical meetings anymore. Missing out on those severly handicap your ability to do your job as racing director . Better to just cut your loss at that point
I think you're right and the F1TV crew agrees with you (I watched the Weekend Warmup right after my comment and they mentioned Mekies's early departure)
This is called βgardening leaveβ right? They basically demoted and simultaneously fired him, without firing him due to legal restrictions.
