Alright, so Usui is a problem. How do you fight against somebody that can completely control your senses? You see, hear, smell, exactly what he wants you to. It's especially difficult if there are friendlies nearby preventing you from just wrecking everything around you indiscriminately.
I was disappointed this episode with the reveal that Usui is claiming to be Miyo's father because of his view that Sumi belonged to him in some way, so it effectively means that Miyo does as well. Frankly, I think it would have been more interesting if he were actually her father. It could have opened up a lot of complexities in Sumi's history with the Saimoris that could have been explored through Miyo's dreams. I think having some kind of love affair between Sumi and Usui could have also been an opportunity to humanize Usui and allow us to sympathize with him a bit. As it is right now, he is basically just unambiguously evil. There is the facade of his organization about giving abilities to non-ability users, but so far we have just seen him obsess over Miyo rather than espouse any kind of ideology.
Not sure how to interpret his offer to the other Usuba to join the Gifted Communion. They left things ambiguous. For now, given how this show has gone so far, I expect him to work with Usui and then later regret it because Miyo is so nice or something like that. @rikka@ani.social
