- Lemmy code of conduct: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/code_of_conduct.html
2. Be civil
- Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
- Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
- Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
- Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
- Bigotry will not be tolerated.
- These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
- Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of
sudo
in Windows. - No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
4. No recent reposts
- Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

Hasn't Mint pretty much overtaken Ubuntu as a beginner distro?
Which is based on Ubuntu
Sure but the main reason people bitch about Ubuntu is snaps and Mint has them disabled, right?
I think so, but Linux people don't run out of Linux things to hate, and I say this as one of them :)
Mint fixes a lot of the problems with Ubuntu.
It will still break given enough time. But in my experience, it mostly works when recently installed. (I still don't use it, but it's better.)
It runs just fine even after a couple of version updates. And even if it comes to the worst, reinstalling just takes a few minutes. Mint is great if you don't like to tinker too much and just want stuff to run out of the box.
There's also a Debian based version
Yeah but I wouldn't say that's a beginner distro. Kinda niche
Yeah I recommend mint nowdays. Ironically I use it myself as my gaming distro cos QubesOS doesn't do graphics acceleration in qubes unless u got an entire GPU to pass through.
