I know a couple guys I went to HS with that never moved on. 40 year old, single, stoner gamers, working minimum wage jobs. I mean I’m still a stoner and a gander but I got a career and a family now
I think this should not be viewed negatively. There's this pressure to 'grow up' and have a stable job and a family that many people don't fit into. I find it super hard to decouple the stuff I do because i want to and the stuff I do because it is ingrained in my by our societal expectations.
That's probably because it easier to not "move on". Having a family is responsibility not many people can handle - even those that have it can't handle it. Society pressures us into something we cant handle and it can end badly. I say fuck it, if they want to play games all day and flip burgers, let them. I'm personally not pursuing "the family life" because I don't think I'd be good at it and I dont think I could handle the stress. I make more money than most do, I have no responsibilities, no debt and no obligations so Im the outsider because family means something different to me. If I ever feel different, I'll move on when I want. It doesnt make sense to just do it at an arbitrary age set by society.
Honk honk
