Maybe I remember it incorrectly, but isn't most of the oil actually from plants far older than dinosaurs?
Dead plants from before there were decomposers who could properly devour the corpses. Oil is lich-ferns

Which should make sense if anyone stops to think what kind of weird pile of dinosaurs in one spot would be required to be condensed into millions of barrels of oil.
Oh yeah, I think most of it is Carboniferous trees, technically the chicken nuggets are more accurate
