I wish there were a Linux version!
Part of what makes notepad++ so good is the way it leverages what windows does already.
It would be an entirely different beast to port it like for like but there are options that are “near”
Kate is good, and VSCodium works well but is much more than I need usually. Luckily there are lots of options!
I wish there was a macOS version! (Same for Paint.NET.)
YES! paint.net is also excellent! GIMP is way more capable than I usually need.
It took me years of using GIMP to understand it well enough to stop booting into Windows just to use Paint.net
I have been using Notepadqq for some time and enjoyed it.
