You're right, they should have built the road through the city by demolishing black neighborhoods like they do the the good ol US of A.

The main cause of deforestation isn't urban development. It's cattle, animal feed and mining.

it's not like brazil doesn't have any conference centres anywhere else...

See, this is exactly why the headline is misleading bullshit. It makes people think the only reason the road is being built is the conference.

It's a state capital, that is a port city, connected to an industrial hub.
