Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

if you are US American abroad right now just do what tesla owners have done with swapping honda badges on their trunks and hoods so just start sewing Canadian flags onto all your luggage and jackets

That wasn’t cool before and it’s less cool now.

The flag. It’s a big fucking lie and not much different than stolen valor or wearing a cultural outfit.

In the mid 2000’s I was down in Mexico I had my flag on something, I was talking to a person selling hats on the street. We got chatting and he says he would give me a hat for $20 because I am Canadian, when I pulled out a piece of paper with the queen on it the saler said no no $20 US. When I heard that I put the queen away and went to another person selling hats.

I am guessing the person was used to US people putting on our flag to make them look good.

That’s a weird conclusion, I think. I would have just thought he didn’t want to bother with exchanging Canadian dollars, or even more simply, that he wanted 20 USD and 20 CAD is less than that.

Fair point however I will counter with: do not be talking up Canada to a Canadian tourist, ask for a 20 and get grumpy when they pull out the head of the commonwealth rather then some dead white guy.

pretend to be canadian all you want; it's still obvious and anyone that has met a canadian will be able to tell the difference.

just like the tesla rebadging. a polished turd is still a turd.

It became a running joke (at least in my circles) that if you want to spot a Canadian, look for a Roots bag or MEC gear. Only Americans would wear a Canadian flag. Though this was before Roots enshittified and offshored all their manufacturing to China, and before MEC dissolved their co-op through evil shenanigans and went privately-owned.

This was standard during the Iraq war. We're bringing it back. Making America great again!
