Well , it appear that it is uncompatible with european value so it should actually be ground for expulsion. But as it never happenned before so nobody know what to do and since far right are now the main influencial political force , nothing will happen.

Not expulsion, there is no mechanism for that. Voting right suspension and no cohesion funds are the maximum punishment possible under the EU constitution. That would require ratification by all other members though, so as long as there is one government (Slovakia being the most likely) blocking that, not much happens. That wouldn't make the point moot to take those steps. Governments change and the groundwork can already be laid for it, or pressure piled on the blocking countries.

I hate the vile stuff that the Hungarian government has/had been doing in the past fifteen (!) years, but if there has ever been a chance to overthrow them, it's now(ish). I know that a year is still a pretty long time, and I'm sure they will switch to overdrive now that they feel it might be their last year, at least in the 2/3 majority, but there's another election coming in April 2026. I would hate it if the country got expunged juuuust before a possible change of regime, even if that change probably won't be Earth shattering.

I just hope the EU comes up with some creative solution to keep these evil autocrats at bay for the "little" time until then.
