The bars on the sides of the star in the middle.
Unless the military has been controlled by the Russians for well over a hundred years, this is a standard military badge.
There is no gaff here, just a bunch of people who dont know what symbols the military uses.
You'll find that the usual color layout is red/white/blue, not white/blue/red.
Not always, several blue/white/red badges were issued for special forces during ww2
It's incredibly uncommon, but yes it has been done before. I think it's unlikely they were referencing these incredibly uncommon medals.
