I've always found face shields to be the better and more comfortable option overall. It's best to invest in a quality one, though, unless you feel like constantly adjusting it.
I suppose if you're going to do that, you should also find one where the transparent part is separately replaceable for when it gets too scratched up.
The ideal would be one of those 3M full-faced respirators (or even ventilators, with the filter in a separate section connected with a hose and fan), but they're $$$.
Maybe I haven't found the right face shield. I have a couple, but I hate wearing them.
If fog is the problem, try a forestry helmet. Instead of clear plastic, it uses wire mesh. Plus, it's got built-in earpro as well.
