To keep the US happy, Mark Carney’s Liberal government is pushing Bill C-2 — expanding surveillance, limiting refugee protections, and eroding privacy in the name of national security. It’s Canada’s own PATRIOT Act, minus the excuse of an actual attack.

That's pretty bad. I don't know if the conservatives would have done much better though in terms of privacy and mass surveillance. I would hope so but yeah Pierre wasn't much help to the party and neither were people like Danielle Smith. Both parties just suck right now and need to change.

The conservatives would have done worse. In every way. That said this government is just conservative lite. And not lite by much.

Can't know for sure. But yeah I don't really trust them. Privacy is very important to me and yeah mass surveillance is just bad. Privacy should be a human right. Sure mass surveillance could catch some criminals but it's not worth spying on everyone just for a few bad apples. I don't like this one bit.
