Catholics and Christians, while similar, go to different churches. So despite the fact that:
You are in fact associating them with people who do not attend "their local church".

Choosing to go or not they wear the cape and masks of their respective religious cults. Try as much as you want to separate the believers from the beliefs, just say you enjoy the company and logic of pedos.
