I'm kinda envious of having that first EV feeling. It's great. Maintenance is so easy.

A few tips:

  1. Get a variable rate electricity tariff for EVs. There's several out there. DM me if you want an octopus code.
  2. You don't NEED a 7kW charger if you don't drive much. If you get the charge you need overnight (or however long your cheap period is) on a 3-pin plug, you can just use that. Charger installation can be pricey after all and it's only 2x faster.
  3. Go use a public charger or two before you're in a situation where you're desperate. It's different to refueling with petrol, so give yourself a couple of tries to learn when it's not critical.
  4. For me, having my destination in the sat nav makes the range estimate a lot more accurate.
  5. The UK is pretty good for chargers. However, avoid charger sites with just one 50kW charger. They tend to be old sites and poorly maintained. Look for places with more than one.
  6. ABRP for route planning, but tweak the preferences to not give those single charger stops.

Good stuff, thank you! Just downloaded abrp and will give it a go on me next road trip. Cheers
