We have a little bird in my household.
She will ask for something that "I've been craving lately and we haven't had it in a while". So, I'll either make a small batch or buy a small bit from the store. Serve it for dinner, and she'll eat the very smallest amount that still qualifies as having eaten some and then state "I've had my fill".
Then it sits in the fridge until it goes bad, because nobody else in the house eats it and she's had her fill or it gets moved into the freezer "for future use" until I clean things out a couple years later and decide it needs to go because it looks freezer burnt and nobody else in the house eats it.
