Whole point of this "distro" is that it comes with bloat preinstalled?
A few exmples:
ChatGPT, Discord, Docker, Figma, GitHub, Google Contacts, Google Messages, Google Photos, HEY, Kdenlive, OBS Studio, Obsidian, Signal, Spotify, Typora, WhatsApp, X, YouTube, Zoom???
Wtf.... Why
It’s really simple: the apps preloaded are the apps DHH uses. It’s his distro people have been duped into using.
"Hey" is an email thingy run by the company that DHH owns.
the rest of those "apps" are probably thrown in to make the list seem more complete. the real goal is to promote his paid email service.
I've spent uncomfortably long trying to figure out what "figma balls" means, or what the obvious answer is when I eventually ask "what's figma".
Figma is a ui design tool haha. No relation ligma luckily.
most of those "apps" also just open up a link in the browser...
I meam it's very openly a very opinionated distro
edit: not dirstro but arch install script
As the linked article says, it's not so much "opinionated" as "unconfigured" with a bunch of ~~stuff~~ bloat that DHH thought looked cool thrown in. It doesn't even ship with Ruby or Rails - a "distro" by the creator of Rails doesn't ship with Rails pre-installed.
