Makes me wonder how different eggs taste when the chicken are bug-fed. Chicken feed is mostly grain nowadays, right?

The yolks are golden-orange, and have a lot more flavour. Commercial eggs are tasteless in comparison. It's like comparing home grown tomatoes to what you buy in the store.

I looked up recently about yolk colour*, and it is based on what chickens eat. But there is nothing stopping commercial operations feeding chickens something to make their yolk more orange.

*The reason I looked it up was because these commercial eggs were way more orange than the pale yellow I'd seen before.

Would you ever mix up the taste of home grown tomatoes with artificially ripened commercial ones? I'm guessing it'd be equally obvious if they artificially flavoured it.
