When I play it the positions of my pinkie and ring finger are reversed compared to the image, same with all Am shapes

There’s no right or wrong… whatever feels better to you.
Do you also flip your fingers for Em?
I play Em with my middle finger on the D string and my ring finger on the A string. I play C the same way
If it works for you you're not doing it wrong but I'd say that's not the conventional way!
