Make a different ship your home ship and everything that you have laying around will go to your cargo hold.
I was sad when i found this out as i spent soooo much time neatly putting stuff in containers to just find out it all gets yeeted into the cargo hold when u switch ships.
Really hope a mod comes along to fix this. Yes i consider this a bug.
Edit: at the very least put a warning when making a new ship you home that tells the user their stuff will be transferred to the cargo hold so they can decide if they want to ruin all their work.
