Don't forget that the track was already rubbered in from the Grand Prix week-end, so it might not have been fully representative of Daniel's true pace.

I don't expect to see peak DR but there's no reason to put him out there if they expect him to finish a lap down on Sundays. They could have stuck with Devries or one of their academy drivers if they didn't see something in Riccardo's ability.
