Trump will negotiate a peace deal with Putin without involving Ukraine and Europe, and Ukraine will make significant concessions to satisfy the Russians. That has been the message from the American administration over the last few days.

In this video I discuss what it says about Trump's understanding of the war, and why the plan is bound to fail. The really interesting question is therefore not what Trump says he will do now, but what he will do when it doesn't work.

He's just going to blame everyone but himself, of course. And then use it as an excuse to proclaim Ukraine are a bunch of warmongering evildoers. Then he's going to stop support, lift sanctions on Russia and enjoy the massive bribe from Putin.

That is the plan. Trump sees the European democracies as enemies. So this suits him perfectly well, as it weakens the EU position in the world, as they have to spend more on Ukraine will being seen as warmongers by a lot of the world thanks to US and Russian propaganda.

The simple truth is that the US has become an enemy of Europe. As much as it sucks to say that.

Just give Russia a part or the entirety of Alaska. Peace within the hour.

Not just lift sanctions. All of a sudden, the Russian troops become “peacekeepers” working to “stabilise the region” against the “rogue Zelenskyy regime”, and get US support. And Trump will be a lot less cautious about the weapons he gives Russia than Biden was about the ones he gave Ukraine.
