Bannon, host of the influential War Room podcast and a former White House chief strategist during Trump's first term, gave a speech Thursday at the annual conservative gathering in Gaylord National Resort Hotel And Convention Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

During his speech, Bannon repeated his calls for Trump to run for an unconstitutional third term, telling the crowd, "We want Trump in '28."

Bannon later said near the end of his speech that "the only way we lose is if we quit" and that they will never "surrender." He then chanted "fight, fight, fight" before raising his right arm with his palm down.

He's being accused of it because he did it.

It’s a little more ambiguous than Elon’s salute, but still pretty obvious.

It would have been plausibly deniable (unlike Elon's) before Elon did it. This one, like Elon's, is a test and/or troll to see if/prove that he can do this in public and be defended for it.

Absolutely. I just meant it would be more ambiguous on its own, which is how his supporters would look at it. Half-assed snapping to attention before doing it makes it pretty clear, regardless.

At this point the number of people who've been caught doing this is vastly more important than picking apart each one frame-by-frame.

If a nazi is doing a salute that looks like a nazi salute, it's probably a nazi salute.

You're right, it was more ambiguous, but only in context. Hard to do a more fervent nazi salute than Musk without being Hitler himself. I have a fear that conservatives are just going to start doing half-assed salutes everywhere and going "Musk isn't a nazi, you'll just call anything a nazi salute"
