They soon will have no social security as well. The vast majority of these morons voted for the Orange Turd as well.

The ones that benefited the most from New Deal policies now haw nice pensions and investments, "Fuck You, I Got Mine!"

I think "vast" majority is an overstatement. I realize the vote skewed in his direction among the older generation, but a majority is not a vast majority.

In fact middle aged voters are far more pro-trump than elderly. Elderly voters actually tended to be more pro-Harris in polling.

The boomers will get bailed out. Mostly just to ensure they don't turn on him.

At least the ones in red states will.

A year ago I might have agreed, but today I'm not sure that's likely at all.

I’m surprised the percentage is less the older the bracket got. I’d think I’d go hog wild the older I’d get. Credit card for all! Max it out in a blaze of glory!

If you plan on leaving anything to anyone else after you die, that's a good way to screw that up. If you're completely alone with nobody claiming anything of yours, go for it.

If I have enough money to worry about my kids' inheritance, I'm probably not maxing out credit cards to buy groceries.

If I don't, then fuck it, they can take 10 or 20k off the sale of my house and live with that.

And in the latter case, why are my kids expecting inheritance after not helping me with affording essentials?

There are ways around that if you do it right.

Some societies let their seniors enjoy their twilight years, with a quiet and reserved respect. Even them marching off into the frozen wilderness alone has a certain respected dignity.

This feels like the equivalent of people storming into a retirement home, banging pots together and yelling "Back to work! Everyone up and out, get back to work!"

The problem isn't using credit cards, but using credit. Put whatever you want on the card, just pay it off on time

[–] Shawdow194@fedia.io 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well the current administration plans to use the bird flu crisis to solve this problem. Older americans wont be in credit debt if there are no older americans!

[–] pezhore@infosec.pub 2 points 2 days ago

We'll raise your credit limit by $1000 for every dead bird you find on the street and eat on video.

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago

don't worry, they won't be doing that anymore once ss money stops rollilng in and they hit their credit limit

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

I use a credit card for everything! I just pay it off every month. Then i get FREE MONEY!

[–] goldfish_brain@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I think it’s safe to say this isn’t just a problem for older Americans. Probably most adult Americans (if they have access to credit cards).

Likely anyone doing this is not able to pay for the medicare stuff and is using medicaid as well.

[–] DonJefe@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Maybe they wouldn't have to if the didn't keep electing Republican clowns to office.
