Summary:

Lawmakers are calling on the Social Security Administration chief to resign after internal emails revealed that the administration shut Maine off from the late-age insurance program in retaliation for publicly defying the MAGA agenda.

Representative Gerry Connolly called Tuesday for the resignation of Leland Dudek, the acting commissioner of social security. In a release, Connolly’s office shared emails sent by Dudek in which the DOGE acolyte inquired to his staff about which contracts Maine had with his agency and ultimately chose to cancel them, despite being aware that doing so would increase fraud and waste.

“Despite reinstating the contracts on March 7, 2025, and claiming that he did not intend to harm the people of Maine, the emails obtained by the Committee show that Acting Commissioner Dudek knew of the negative impacts of cancelling the programs and was willing to hurt the people of Maine and waste taxpayer money to avenge President Trump,” Connolly’s office wrote.

This really seems like it should be more "20-years in prison gen pop, without possibility of early release" territory than "resign and continue life as normal after likely causing unnecessary deaths for revenge".

If there's no justice, actions like this will become subject to the people's veto. That way lies chaos.

Throw it on the ever growing pile of "shit Republicans accused Democrats of doing, when they really just wanted to do it themselves"

throw it on the ever growing pile of justification for an armed uprising.

This reminds me, I need to sharpen my guillotine.

Reminder for the upset but unarmed to get moving on becoming armed and competent. Legal immigrants are now being kidnapped and shipped to prisons outside of the US; how long before they start doing it to you? Defend yourself, your family, your friends, and your neighbors. It's no longer reasonable to wait to argue the point in court if their plan is to disregard your right to due process.

You as a law abiding citizen only have as many rights as accused criminals have.

Because if all it takes is an baseless accusation of criminal behavior to remove your rights to due process and fair trial, in order for you to be disappeared from the country and delivered to be tortured in a foreign prison, beyond any reach or recourse.. Then anyone, for any reason, at the whims of the powerful.. can be falsely accused and disappeared to a foreign torture prison.

This is not a threat against immigrants, or brown people. It is a threat against every single american citizen.

The second this shit started happening, and coupled with the fact that the administration is just straight up ignoring judicial rulings, means the constitution and the rights it provides is dead and gone. You have no rights. You have no legal protections. You have no protection, period, except for what you can provide for yourself.

Now is the time to buy a weapon. To learn and become familiar with the weapon. Because its not a matter of if you might need it. Its become a matter of when you will need it.

The bigger the pile gets, the faster it gets bigger.

Big difference between the Dems and the MAGAs, is that the Dems don’t actively try to hurt the people that didn’t vote for them. The MAGAs do.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 6 hours ago

Not acting in the face of evil is itself a decision, and a harmful act.

Or generally hurt people that are just living their lives. We never wanted to attack Christianity or masculinity or femininity or traditional values, we just think there is room for other points of view.

We never wanted to attack Christianity or masculinity

To those accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 14 points 20 hours ago

At this point I think we need to start.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago

Yeah the Dems just hurt everyone by refusing to represent their electorate instead of their rich doners.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 5 points 20 hours ago

Dems get hurt when people betray principles. Trumps get hurt when people betray the party.

It's all just an extension of the "progressives fall in love, conservatives fall in line" adage.

Imagine the mountain of shit if Biden or Obama had done this to a red state.
