I was reading comments about the kilmar Garcia case in tiktok, about how he deserves it, mocking his wife who's brave enough to go on TV and talk about this against an administration that would deport her too, or worse. And they mock her, saying if you love him so much go join him, saying that she's lying, saying that they hope he's dead. All because this man is visibly brown in America.

Something just welled up inside me. It felt like I just wanted to hurt them. To stop them from hurting others. And that they were bad people hurting not just innocent people but humanity. And I wanted them to suffer for it. And I hate it. These people to me are just evil. And I can't stand it. Idk what to do. They are like nazis.

I'm a gentle person. I work at a garden center. I work with flowers. I garden. I cry seeing animals in pain. But these people... these people that want others to go to a concentration camp for having autism awareness tattoos and without due process are evil to me. They want brown skinned people to go to concentration camps. Idk what to do. This world is so cruel.

Here's the way I look at it.

When you're in a war, the best general isn't the angriest one, it's the one who can step back and coolly assess the situation.

Anger may feel good for a while, but like any other drug eventually it saps your strength.

Keep calm and save your energy for the things that matter.

I keep my anger in a big box that I can open in case of emergency. Use the rage to fuel change. The box is getting.... Large. And the metal exterior is glowing orange.

No they're Nazis.

I'm not gonna say Nazis aren't people, but just because all life has inherent value doesn't mean that value sticks around their entire life...

I'll say it. They aren't people. They're rabid animals.

I think it's important to remember that they are very much human, and people do inhumane things.

Let's not delve into the nazi "we're just exterminating vermin" rhetoric. We are very much wanting actual people to suffer.

Note: I don't consider that a bad thing. They would happily cast the first stone, and I'm more than happy to shoot back. Don't start shit, won't be shit. MAGA just doesn't know how to go about the "don't start shit" part, and I don't think anyone should feel guilty about them fucking around and finding out. It's a pity they have to drag so many down with them.

All humans are animals by definition.

It is the weak who are cruel, gentleness can be expected only from the strong. -Leo Rosen

Also “Hurt people hurt people.”

Note I am not in any way meaning to imply that one should accept or excuse cruel behavior.

But I do not want to respond to hateful people by being hateful myself. Responding from strength means taking action and responding clearly and forcefully. It is really hard to see fellow humans be so blind and so cruel and cause such unimaginable harm. Agree - they need to be stopped. I don’t know how to help this stop.

But they are still fellow humans - with their own stories and struggles. The response to someone dehumanizing others isn’t to dehumanize them back.

So the question is what actions can we take? I am not a target (born in the US, white) outside of my political beliefs - so how can I take a stand in a way that might help / have an effect?

I don’t know. I share your despair at seeing what is happening - and I encourage you to keep hold of your compassion and strength and act from there. Act boldly, forcefully, and with love.

It's the single most understandable thing there is.

It just sucks to experience and doesn't make you a better resistor. You have to abandon pragmatism for a feeling of phony power that doesn't do shit, in order to keep it up.

Hope you can surf the storm.

That is the correct and just reaction to have. Join an org near you and start training for the time when you are called upon to protect innocents.

Yes but it’s karmic so is okay.
