In other Louisiana news, the Governor of Louisiana, creator of LA DOGE, and friend of Trump, Jeff Landry, was in trouble for ethics violations, so he decided that he would just get his friends to change the laws...

So I guess we just won't be investigating ethics violations anymore... That's cool.

Also, I posted this past Sunday about a local election to continue funding that Sheriff Hutson of New Orleans needed to avoid layoffs and pay for programs for mental health and healthcare for the jail. I was feeling so pumped that it won (by literally 2 votes) despite facing a lot of craziness and disinformation.

The election was Saturday, and came on the heels of the current Louisiana AG suing Hutson, and taking her to federal court on Wednesday, to force New Orleans to follow a Louisiana law banning sanctuary cities, which is conveniently just repackaged federal law. The Monday night before the trial presidential EOs drop that conveniently seem to be making Murrill/Landry's argument for them.

Oh, and it just so happens Landry has been threatening to take away funding to New Orleans over the issue they went to court about on Wednesday, since he was former AG Landry, and several years before the law banning sanctuary cities was passed last year.

BTW, the Louisiana sanctuary city law was actually written by a different LA DOGE member, Senator Blake Miguez (the guy who posted a picture of the secret LA DOGE meetings to facebook, proving they met in secret and violated transparency laws.) Miguez also sponsored the bill that first allowed Landry to begin gaining control over the Louisiana ethics board after he was charged with an ethics violation.

Anyway, like I said, despite all that, I was feeling optimistic, after voting bc it felt like a win.

Then this morning I wake up to find all this local news coverage that an average Joe New Orleanian has paid for a recount. He's an Army veteran and a Lyft driver, not some wealthy individual with connections. He didn't call for the recount because he cares about the results or anything. Apparently it's simply a matter of caring about election integrity as a concerned citizen.

So, just being used to the fuckery that is Louisiana and especially the fuckery that is Louisiana in 2025, I decide to just look into this a little further.

I learn this average Joe has filed the recount under an alias (he apparently has several). Not sure why he would do that, but it might have something to do with his connections to local government and multiple previous attempts to run for public office in Louisiana under one of his other names...

TLDR:....Help?

In theory it makes sense to try and safeguard military bases through that type of measure. In reality, we live in the 2020s and not the 1920s, so people wanting access to the base can just hack one of the emails of an on base personnel and infect their network.

Also, with our current government administration, I wouldn't trust them not to use that justification to further their Hitler playbook copying scheme.

Letting the Government TAKE YOUR HOME FOR NO REASON is TRUE FREEDOM! None of that Healthcare and Education BULL that DEMONRATS want!

Seizing a private dwelling for military use... That's an act that's so heinous it has its very own amendment. It seems like we're speedrunning to get all 27.

5 miles, I can understand. Visual range, small arms range, and about the extent of controlled airspace around airports making drone operations practically illegal without a bunch of advance notice and permission.

50 miles is a tad excessive no? And if these "advarsaries" (a convenient phrase that can be twisted to mean anyone) are such a threat why stop there? Why not a state wide action? Or a federal law?

Came here to say exactly that. With how bloated the military is, it wouldn't surprise me if a hundred million or more people live within that range, and only absolute idiots and other fascists trust the GOP's definition of "adversary" to be valid and fair in every case.

They are getting you used to your military acting on your own soil against you.

If there's one thing I know about how people feel about their property and places like Louisiana, this can only end badly. I say give it a shot and see what happens.

That's probably the point, get people to fight back as an excuse to squash them.
