/taps watch...

edit: the news story updated. It was his dad and his aunt. Meh. I wonder where they got the $500k from, though...

It was his family, but why did he fight so hard to conceal that fact? Where did they get the money?

[–] QHC@kbin.social 8 points 2 years ago

I will be surprised if we don't find out soon that neither of his family members were themselves aware of these loans.

Hey!

How about we grant the benefit of the doubt to, ex-Astronaut, 14-time Nobel prize winner, 23-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Iraq War Fighter Ace, George Santos and his family.

Per the subject himself, they somehow didn't want it to be known that they bailed out a modern. fucking. hero. like George Santos.

Their thinking is a conundrum, to be sure.

I guess he lied about rather going to jail than releasing those names, too.

the answer is his dad and his aunt. smells like bad fish and probably is, but there's nothing here.

Any bets on who it is? Russia seems like the one but that's too boring. I'm betting it was the Brazilian government, that he's a Bolsanaro puppet somehow.

his family. honestly, if i were feeling pursued by basically everyone, I would try to keep my fam out of it.

George Santos, OTOH. Holy heck what a piece of work.

That's my read. And, why I'm not really keen on personally going down the path of, "but where did they get the money!?!". Considering it's Santos, it's probably all sketchy, but dragging arbitrary family members of shitty people through the mud just 'cause doesn't sound like who I want to be.

The only concern I have is if they’re straw donors with somebody else providing them the assets
