Kamala Harris has said that she currently has no desire to re-enter “the system” of American politics because it is “broken”.

On Thursday night the Democratic party’s defeated presidential nominee, who replaced Joe Biden late in the 2024 campaign after he dropped his re-election bid, gave her first interview since losing the election to Donald Trump, talking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show.

After she announced she will not run for the governorship of California just a day earlier, Harris told the TV show that it was about something more “basic” than whether she wanted to run for something else instead – with the subtext being whether she will attempt a White House run again in 2028.

She wholeheartedly embraced the shit system that got her the nomination and espoused all the broken policy that the system perpetuated.

What a fucking joke

Wanted to be president, but not willing to fight to fix the country... interesting.

Democratic party needs a straight up rebuilding, trim the fat and get some real Patriots to establish honorable American values based on mutual respect.

She never was a leader and I am glad that she has stopped trying. Make room for someone capable at fulfilling it.

interesting Democratic party needs a straight up rebuilding,

Sounds like she agrees with you

Single best decision she's ever made.

She’s never polled well. Couldn’t even win a primary in her own state. This is like declining to attend a party you weren’t invited to where no one likes you.

I watched the interview and knew as soon as she said "broken" that was going to be the headline in all the articles.

For those who only read the headline, it's a highly misleading one. The full quote is,

Recently I made the decision that I just – for now – I don’t want to go back in the system. I think it’s broken

And she later goes on to talk about touring the country and listening to people, specifically listening and talking without the implication of trying to get their vote (at that exact time).

Now hopefully she's being truthful. If she wants to spend the next few years fixing up her image and actually improving her policies I'd be happy to have her back and trying the primaries.

I’d be happy to have her back and trying the primaries.

Would be hilarious watching her lose the primaries if the party allows them.

Good point. Let's do nothing.

Kamala dropping out is a big step.

Agreed, that way the Ds can't run her again. Because they absolutely would.

It seems Democrats are finally coming to terms with the fact that they need to appeal to people if they want to win their votes.

Or more accurately, make people believe like they care. Because they are still working against Mamdani and other progressives in full force.

Not gonna lie, you had me on the first part. I was going to ask for a source based on exactly what you mentioned in the second. They only want to give the illusion of listening to the working class, so they can maintain the status quo.

Almost like they barely try so they can benefit from Trumps tax breaks.

I like when she was told of voting discrepancies but chose to ignore it and go home instead
