Damn bro. Life ain't over because your hairline went bad

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I mean, it's just hair. We're certainly not vain and superficial enough to let that "ruin our lives", right?

[–] TheAlbatross@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I have a widows peak and I get mad compliments on my hair. It's only over when it's over, buddy.

[–] Scrath@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I didn't know what a widows peak was so I googled it and figured out that's just what you call that type of hairline in english.

Personally I really like the german word for it which is "Geheimratsecken". It literally translates to "secret council corners".

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago

Germans have the best words.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 week ago

entire industries exist simply because of it. lol

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Vegeta hairline hit me at 25 so I just buzzed it all off... I never lived life at all lol

those new research chemicals for hair loss pop up every year with lofty promises, and always end up being nothingburgers when the results come in.

if you care about it, try the treatments already available. they seem to help most people.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

Nothing wrong with a little male pattern baldness. Disrespectfully OP, you are wrong.

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I can’t go bald if I shave my head every morning

[–] Master@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

I do it every other day with an electric and it take about 10 min... If I forget then it takes about an hour because its to long for the electric.

[–] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

The secret to immortality right there

[–] CodingCarpenter@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Every morning? What do you use?

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I dont actually

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 9 points 1 week ago

Estrogen is the answer to this problem :3

[–] HiddenLayer555@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm ugly with hair, losing it won't make me that much uglier.

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (5 children)

I started taking pills for it a few years ago. It was ridiculously easy to do. I did it online, it auto-renews, and it's an easy chewable I take every morning.

I think a lot of guys have the impression that hair treatments are bullshit, because for a while there they were. But the new shit works, at least for me.

No side effects or downsides for me. My hairline is just paused, even rewound a little bit.

[–] imdc@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

This the stuff where 2% of users lose their boners, then 2% of that 2% don't get them back once they stop taking it? Nah I'll take the chrome dome.

Which med is that?

Everyone’s risk tolerance is different, but a 99.96% chance that I would not experience irreversible side effects feels like pretty good odds

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Do you think maybe there's some kind of demographical overlap between people who take hair pills and people who were going to lose their boners anyway?

When I see people complaining about losing their hair to male pattern baldness I'm thinking "just take finasteride" or "why don't you just take finasteride" or "just block the DHT this isn't some inevitable thing and that'd probably help so why don't you just do that?" But I'm not a testosterone enjoyer so I lack their perspective on things

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

It's not that simple for some men, but for some other men it's exactly that simple. I'm sure I'm a little lucky, but it was such an easy decision for me with no downside.

Ok, but I'm not lying.

Do you think I'm advertising or something? What would be my motivation for lying?

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

I don't know anything about you or these pills but typically one would tell a "lie" like that as part of their overall campaign to cope. The point isn't to deceive others but to bulwark a worldview that emotionally benefits the person to hold in some way (ie, "I was smart to take these pills, wasn't taken advantage of at all")

At some point in their life most men have to make the greatest decision in their life... Keep their hair or keep their erection. I've started shaving my head!

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago (3 children)
[–] Superdooper@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

There's a certain drug that prevents baldness but reduces your testosterone

[–] silasmariner@programming.dev 1 points 1 week ago

Male pattern baldness has something to do with testosterone I think? Like, ppl w/ more testosterone tend to lose more hair or summat

[–] Darkenfolk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

He couldn't get his dick up while looking in the mirror I guess.

[–] BudgetBandit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

My genetics 🧬 are making sure 👍 that I won’t get bald

[–] IWW4@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Man, my only regret about shaving my head was that I didn’t do it 15 years sooner!

[–] belated_frog_pants@beehaw.org 3 points 1 week ago

Patrick stewart would like a word with you...

[–] Uebercomplicated@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

I've had a pretty intense widows peak since teenagerdom and have also gotten regular compliments on my hair since teenagerdom. Coincidence? I think not!

[–] lime@feddit.nu 2 points 1 week ago

i passed that point at like 22.

[–] lordapophis@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Like what? Life is good if you don't give a damn what people say and Just play with your legos.

[–] VoxAliorum@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago
[–] Mangoholic@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There are a couple of good hairstyles that benefit from a little balding, if it gets to much just go full bald. Its just superficial in the end anyways.

I shaved my head clean, I'm pretty luckly I've got a great head shape for a bicked head. Unfortunately I did it just to see and I have a really full head of hair at 42. I'll never get to share my beautiful bald head with the world.
