Nah they'll just use drones to gun down the protestors that stick around.
It sure would suck if drones were hard to get a hold of and learn to use.
Even this regime knows that that would be a bad look. Maybe Trump would want it, but at least Stephen Miller or Russ Vought would tell him no. Instead they'd have their goons just pull people quietly off the street.
I think you may be underestimating how bad this is going to get before its over.
I doubt joe public will stand in front of the tanks. They'd just SLAM the tanks via strongly worded forum posts, complaining about inaction, and maybe throw in a wagging finger or so.
In my experience, most of the lemmy crowd would be criticizing the guy for getting hauled off or killed for nothing.
For anyone scoffing at the notion, make a comment about how you are prepared to fight these fascists if they come knocking. See what happens. Or you can skip that bit and just read the replies to my posts.
Americans would need to actually protest for this to happen. The rough equivalent of the Tiananmen Square protest would be if there was a constant presence surrounding the White House day and night for 6 weeks with crowd sizes ranging from 100,000 to 1,000,000 protesters depending on the day and time.
