That's a hard no on military conscription. As for public service tutoring kids or working in national parks, it sounds a lot like forced unpaid labour to me. You want people to work, you pay them.

We have mandatory conspriction for men here, but everybody have option to serve civilian service instead where you basically work free for job goverment orders. Idea being if you dont fight in war you will have basic knowledge for some non fighting role during war time.

You get small pay during this and goverment pays your rent during the civilian service.

Personally i think its great system for a country that has unreliable and potentially hostile neighbor with large standing army and long border.

The very question of asking them to be a public service to be prepared for war only means that the adults in the room have failed absolutely miserably that we have to go back to that point again in human history. What an absolute disgrace.

Yes! As citizens we not only have rights, we should also have responsibilities. If managed correctly this could be a positive thing.
