Never, EVER, use your favorite song as a wakeup alarm.

[–] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There are two songs I used as an alarm when I was in school and never regretted

I just woke up in a good mood! Helps it was school and not a job

Replying to my own comment to say just listen to either of the song intros and try to be in a bad mood. Especially down under which was why it was my iHome alarm song waddup y2k

Then a lot of time passes by when you encounter the song while shuffle mode is on and relive the song.

Why would the dude go to a graveyard while wearing a suit of armor? Is it in enemy territory? Did he have to fight his way in?

[–] DasFaultier@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago

To fight off the spooky scary emotions.

To fight off the spooky scary skeletons

Also, don't associate songs with people in your life... 😑

If you go through a breakup and have a band you loved while you were together and don't wanna lose just keep fucking listening to it! Especially the stuff that you know is just situational gonna associate with that time/vibe in your life. Music can be such a time capsule much like scent is and the only way to keep it from being tied to a relationship/time period/whatever negative that may cling to it is to just keep exposing yourself to it past that point.

I had the reverse happen with an ex-girlfriend's two favorite bands, Death Cab For Cutie and The Decembrists. I fucking HATED that shit when I was with her and had to put so much effort into pretending to like it. A decade after we broke up I was all "wow, this is actually pretty good music". Weird.

I totally get this. Even hearing the same song a few times makes me not want to hear it again.

Give it a break. It'll come back round.

On the other hand I played Chopper by Gawne like 15 times. Today. In a row.

All good songs must be spam listened to hundreds or thousands of times until I'm sick of it :)
