Fuck yes, sign me up! ENT fans want to get fed!

The show ended right as Archer entered his prime, just after we saw him broken and beaten by a real year of hell. I want to see that prime era Archer (of which we were robbed) in flashbacks as the current one is once again broken and beaten by another year of hell.

I really hope they get this off the ground 🙏

They probably won't, especially considering that the first version of the pitch has already been rejected.

But...the reason for that rejection has been addressed, and this seems like this show would have a unique identity, which has been a priority.

And frankly, this seems like a more interesting concept to me than any of the other not-quite-pitches that have come from creators over the last few years.

I’m finding Sussman is doing a better job of tempting fans:

Once again, as Sussman noted in his recent TrekMovie podcast interview, “this is not a real television show,” which he also made clear to Andy Probert. Even so, the idea remains intriguing enough for the veteran designer to keep sketching — and for Sussman to remain hopeful that the new Skydance team at Paramount will want to revisit Star Trek: United. “I think Scott said it best at the [Las Vegas] convention, right?” he noted. “Who knows what will happen?”

@ValueSubtracted and randomly I find you here. Didn't realize Startrek.website was pushing to Mastodon now. Haha, my accounts feel redundant.

I think a Lemmy account still provides the best experience, but in general, posts should show up on Mastodon with the #StarTrek tag.

But there are some variances depending on the poster's home instance, there's a higher chance of weirdness overall, and certain types of formatting don't really work cross-platform.

We did post a brief guide about a year ago, for those who would prefer to stick with Mastodon.

That… is kind of ugly. It’s unimaginative - feels too much like an airplane or a cheap-as-heck shuttle model. It brings up the worst of late-90s/early 2000s blobject design.

It would definitely feel more at home as background ship, but this is not the design of a hero ship. It doesn’t even have to be the traditional Roddenberry-type design; something looking more like the Dove from Lower Decks would be better than this.

I think it's a decent evolution of the ENT aesthetic - the warp delta in particular - at a smaller scale.

Not exactly awe-inspiring, but as a glorified commercial transport...

Actually looking at it, my impression has softened a bit. I think I just was struggling with the perspective.

I like the proportions of the earlier concept better - I like big nacelles.
