I binged this show like 3 or 4 times in one year shortly after it ended. It's been a while since I've watched it. I really need to go again, because it's so great. The whole cast is amazing, but Andre Braugher especially just brings another level. RIP.

Not in a million years I could have imagined Andre Braugher could be THIS funny!... I had always seen him in the "wise friend" role and he nailed that... but I couldn't think of him as an actual comedy actor but he was amazing in this show. 7 out of the top 10 spit-my-coffee laughing moments were entirely his doing

I don't think I had seen him in anything before 99. But he really was great. Top 2 moments for me are the rant about etymology in The Box, and "yas queen" when he pulls the "gay card".

“This isn’t Cheddar. This is just some common bitch!”

He plays the straight guy great. Erm. I guess the straight gay guy? How the fuck does that work in the industry?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago

He's playing a "straight man" that's gay maybe?

How I felt when I saw Christopher Meloni in VEEP and Happy! That dude is surprisingly good at comedy.

My teenage daughter has watched this series start to finish so many times that she can practically recite full episodes.

It is SHOCKING how often she knows the answer to some obscure Jeopardy! question, and when I ask how she knows, it was referenced in a gag bit on Brooklyn 99. The show isn't just funny, they pull out some deep cuts. Nutria milk is one of the weirder ones that comes to mind right now.

Ah shit, I forgot that he died. RIP. That character is so fucking good

My company has this horrid fascination with the CEO, almost like a cult.

Is it epic systems? I hear some crazy shit about the corporate culture there

What do u mean treating people like shit and then treating them a miniscule bit nicer don't cancel each other out?

[–] treesapx@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

And by "nicer" you mean telling a captive audience about their recent extravagant vacation and finishing with "follow your dreams!"

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

Just had my dream vacation! Just remember everyone, dreams do come true, and if you all put in just a little more effort I can do it again next year.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 5 points 1 week ago

But they gave everyone a slice of pizza! Surely that cancels everything out, right?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago

Lol, on point.

Yep I remember having two supervisors at two different times who sent out emails like this. Whack. But they were both pretty awesome guys so they're forgiven, LOL
