Eleven people were arrested at a Friday protest outside a U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement facility in the west Chicago suburb of Broadview. Law enforcement had urged demonstrators to stay in designated “protest zones.”

The president used to have to make his case to congress before starting a war with another sovereign nation. Not anymore. Everything now automatically qualifies as defensive/police action or some other phrase to mean that war is now just a regular part of how we keep ourselves secure. No need to ask if a particular one is justified.

Now the president is asking if he can use the military against the citizens of its own country. Something that should only be allowed in the most extreme cases. We're talking once in a lifetime events, once in a century. Rarer maybe. Maybe never. And after they give him the thumbs up, anything will become the justification for using the military on its own people. Just part of how we keep people safe.

We spend the overwhelming majority of our budget revenue on the military. When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Ill tell you what, I dont feel safe and secure. And doing this shit makes me feel less safe and secure.

None of these appeals have been emergencies. This seems to be abuse of power by both djt and scotus.

These emergency motions go to a single justice first. That justice then forwards the matter to the full court (usually).

In this case, Amy Coney Barrett ordered a quick opposition response to the government's motion, but she didn't put down an administrative stay right away, like in some of these other cases. This means that the NG deployment is still blocked while ACB collects the paperwork and presents it to the full court.
