They look like they enjoy mayonnaise casserole for a midnight snack

I remember being a precocious little 35 year old

Millions of adults never mature mentally. There is now an entire political party of adults with the minds of children.

You can guess which party by looking for tue signs: avoids responsibility, poor emotional regulation, lack of accountability, impulsivity, difficulty to commitment, self-centered, black and white thinking, difficulty handling conflict, stagnation of personal growth.

For age, the way I put it is: the only thing you can determine for sure from a persons age is how many times the earth circled the sun since they were born. Age says nothing about maturity.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 36 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I use this quote to define an adult from a child, seems fitting with these guys:

an adult is a person who understands when it is appropriate to be childish

I have used this definition for a decade, and it has always shown to be accurate.

GOP guys are stuck in perpetual cycle of being a teenager who decide to throw out all their old toys, because they are a "man", and "men don't play with toys".

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

They're like 6 year olds who're told they need to be big boys to go to school so they do it. But at night they secretly cry and want to play with their toys.

Have you ever seen those old political cartoons about the 'upper' classes, depicting them all as extremely (like actually round in shape) fat folks always eating at a table while others starve? The stereotypical caricature came from somewhere in reality, and my bet is that eating all you want has always been a staple of people in a pretty good position in life.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

This is also observed in Korea: in North Korean culture dear leader is always round, signalling abundance, while the opposite is true in the South, where food is actually abundant.

In German this kind of people are called "Schreibtischtäter", i.e. people who commit crimes while sitting at a desk.

In 30-50 years we will maybe say this about stunted emotional development due to endocrine disruption from microplastics, or maybe social-behavioral disruption thanks to dopamine gaming from social media especially for youth, constant digital stimulation, pfas, ultra fine air particulate pollution, or whatever.

The point is the harm is happening still but we don’t care because much like when tobacco was becoming clear as a public health crisis. Or using your example like how it was fairly clear leaded gas had neurotoxic effects in like the 1920s almost immediately after they started using it because it kept destroying the brains of the gas factory workers, then they spent like 30 years studying it and basically finding atmospheric lead pollution increases as well as blood level concentration increases from engine exhaust.

But in both cases regulators drug their feet for decades while people literally died because god forbid they harm profits of companies to protect the public health and safety. We have some very clear ideas of what needs to be acted on now but we don’t because god forbid google be valued at 2.7 trillion dollars instead of 2.98 trillion

... how are all these people built with the proportions of fantasy dwarves, but scaled up?

... are they all midwesterners?

EDIT:

Well shit, my apologies to the Midwest.

Vermont.

Samuel Douglass, who is here pictured front and center with an apparently cheese -eating grin, was a state senator from Vermont.

I say was, because he just fucking resigned.

Peter Giunta got fired real quick. Processing his termination paperwork was the highlight of my workday. Bro threw away a well paying job, and amazing health insurance to play Nazi.

Dumb culture -> dumb diet

It was a national scandal when Michelle Obama tried to improve the food of children. Otherwise it's been all bad.
