Take back the flag, they've been bastardizing it for years and making it seem like only maga cares about it. The more this movement embraces it, the weaker it becomes as a symbol to their hate

I never gave it up. It's our flag. Theirs has Trump's face on it, and they fly it ABOVE our flag. FUCK. THAT.

That's a real thing I saw at the no kings rally. They are traitors.

Mike Johnson is so afraid of sinning that he has his son policing his masturbation habits. And yet he seems to have no problem bearing false witness.

I mean, he's also ignoring all the parts about seeking justice, and how to treat the poor, the alien, the least of these etc. But that's all policy and I'm sure he thinks that doesn't count because it's not him doing it personally. But when he lies about his opponents he is personally, intentionally breaking one of the commandments. Not that I expect any better from that humanoid shit stain, but it's worth pointing out. One more hypocrisy for the pile.

And of course, it's even more telling that he feels the need to lie. He can't acknowledge what the protests are about or why the shut down is happening because he knows that most people would support those positions.

Sort of like how most people would prefer he not dismiss congress early in order to shield pedophiles from justice.

Religion isn't just about selective persecution. What's more important is selective application. Rules for thee, not for me.

That's true, but I don't think it's quite the reason.

Religion is about vibes.

Not even all the MAGAts are so psychopathic to feel absolutely no remorse or empathy (although some very much are). This is where religion comes in. It gives them small stuff they can not do (eat meat on fridays, masturbate, not go to church, etc.) It also forbids some larger stuff (murder, lying, profiteering, etc.) but the church is set up in such a way that you can always repent and it's as forgiven as your minister says. If you've got a good minister, he'll absolve you of all guilt!

Some people have remaining guilt still weighing down on their soul. This can be gotten rid off by not doing the inconsequential things.

In other words - steal millions of taxpayers' money, but it's all forgiven if you don't eat meat on friday and go to church on sunday!

To be honest, church is probably our hypothetical person made their million dollar deal.

It's our fucking flag, too. Fuck the assholes that think they can take everything from us. I was at a rally today, and I pissed a lot of cowards off. Lotta middle fingers but no discussions. Cowards. Conservatives are cowards.

I'd say it's more our flag than it is theirs.

I really wish some mass effort would be to message liberals everywhere in America to hoist a flag somewhere on their property/apartment and on their car. Doesn't have to be upside down, or some alt version of it. Don't brand it with some Democratic candidate's name. Just reclaim the normal American flag, flown/displayed normally and very prominently.

Make it a real movement - have it everywhere. I bet you anything if this were to continue, the RWA edgelords would further out themselves by having to fly some perverted version of the flag, or even just start flying Nazi-affiliated stuff outright, because they'd need to "own" the "normies".

The way they do that right now is to fly OUR American flag on all their property/car. If we were to start reclaiming what is rightfully OURS, it would confuse the living shit out of all these gaslighting jackass trolls that are trying to set themselves apart from society.

Makes sense to me... What else would you burn? /s

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Zoidberg knows we should be able to do anything we want to our flag. It's our flag. All Americans. We can do what we want because of what it represents. It's more powerful than the petty cowards that tell us what we can do with it.

I live in Seattle, but am spending the week in Boston on vacation. It is interesting how different of a vibe American flags here. Boston already did this once to get the flag in the first place. They're proud to wave it. More power to them.

In Seattle, American flags are either LGBT colors are torn to shreds on a flagpole bolted to a massive truck.

Welcome to the BSA (balkanized states of amerika).

On a lighter note , what cool things are the same?

[–] blave@lemmy.world 28 points 5 days ago (5 children)

At the rally where I was, they said the Pledge of Allegiance at least 10 separate times.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

Our flags were flown behind a flock of bald eagles.

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

That needs to change or go away. Same thing with our national anthem. Freaking hot trash.

The declaration of independence is the most punk thing I've ever read. They should recite that

[–] bradinutah@thelemmy.club 6 points 5 days ago

...and Justice for ALL!

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)
[–] blave@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Yeah, it got a little annoying.

And to be clear, it was said 10 separate times, not 10 times in a row. This was over the course of a few hours.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

We definitely need to reclaim that flag. I think I've been saying that my entire life. That flag belongs to me much more than it does to some RWA who hates the actual country, its people, and the experiment and liberty its supposed to stand for.

I even support burning the flag, and I think that flag belongs to liberals much more than it does to the right wing reactionaries known as conservatives and Republicans in this country.
