Ornament? It looks like a half buried old bottle of booze, presumably broken if its been placed over a rock like that.

It's not a rock. It's a bottle of Bols ballerina which has a music box inside. https://www.chezpluie.com/cdn/shop/products/DSC_2276_8e48809a-187c-42ec-b9c5-84dcc1d511bf_800x.jpg It's probably been there a while. From what I can find the product has been discontinued since 1978.
