Cuomo courting the Republican Vote is the textbook case for why these fuckers constantly lose elections.

I'm amazed he's not asking Liz Cheney to stump and knock doors for him.

[–] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 26 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He’s not running as a democrat because they prefer Mamdani.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Then he's doomed to lose. The man has been a pillar of the Democratic Party for twenty years. Its too late to turn coat now.

[–] Blum0108@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think that's a pillar the Dems would rather be torn down

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

lol

New York Dem voters, sure. The Democratic party would not like to lose him for Mamdani...

[–] Blum0108@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The Dem party will crumble if it doesn't embrace the left wing.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

They've already embraced the right, and thanked them. That ship has sailed, you need to stop thinking of them as your saviors. They are not on your side.

Establishment democrats would sooner platform Hitler himself before letting progressives gain power. People always quip about "leftist" infighting, but fail to see how much damage "our side" does. Courting the right with Fascist-Lite marketing, like throwing trans people under the bus, isn't fighting against fascism: it's just fascism.

Bought and paid for by the Donor Class.

How many chances do we give corporate centrists like Cuomo to deny progressives like Mamdani any chance themselves?

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 27 points 4 days ago

As many as the corps are willing to pay for until we rebuild the system to prevent them from being able to, or just destroy them outright

[–] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Legally he is entitled to two

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 5 points 4 days ago

Grandma killer gets the same as the rest of us I guess.

Reminder that this wouldn’t be happening if New York wasn’t one of the few states without ‘sore loser’ laws to prevent this exact scenario.

Come on, New York, elect someone cool for once.

[–] AmazingAwesomator@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (2 children)

i am unfamilar with "sore loser" laws. what kinds of things does this entail?

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 30 points 4 days ago

Cuomo tried to win the primary as a Democratic candidate but couldn’t, so in most other states he wouldn’t be allowed to run in the same election under a different party. But NY has no such law, so he’s allowed to run as an independent in the same election.

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I assume it's because Cuomo lost the primary and is running as an independent

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 4 days ago

Yeah, you lost, chump. Go home, and try again next time.

These big establishment Dems are just as arrogant as MAGAs.

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Come on, New York, elect someone cool for once.

Representative Ocasio-Cortez is pretty cool in my book and New York elected her.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 days ago

Since context wasn't clear, I meant for mayor of NYC, lol
